Attendance / Raffle
It is the responsibility of parents to make sure that their children attend school every day and to notify school as soon as possible of the reason for any absence. If a child is late or absent from school, and you haven't informed us of the reason, you will be sent a text asking you to contact the school. Any unexplained absences will go down as unauthorised. We work closely with our Education Welfare Officer who visits the school on a regular basis to check our attendance records.
To help and support attendance we carry out half-termly attendance raffles. If a child has attended every day throughout a week, they will receive an Attendance Award Ticket at the end of that week and their name will be added to the raffle basket.
At the end of each half-term a raffle will be held in which the winning ticket will receive a family focus award (Tickets to a soft play, Greggs voucher etc.) The more weeks that a child has attended the more tickets they will have in the raffle. There will be no limits on family's collecting tickets just because one family may be larger than others. The raffle prizes will all be family focused to encourage not just an individual prize for children but rather something that the whole family can enjoy. The draw is completed on the last assembly of the half term.
The school (headteacher) will not authorise children being taken out of school during term time, except in exceptional circumstances.
Absences during the run up of Year 6 KS2 SATs will NOT be authorised by the Headteacher either. It can also be extremely unsettling for children to have time off in September as this is the time when children are getting to know their new class routines and friends.
