Year 1 had great fun during their topic day linked to Flight! They started the day with cricket, warming up by flying around the playground. The children then learnt about 'Bessie Coleman' and why she was a significant person. They ended the day by making a space rocket linked to our English story, 'The Way Back Home'.
Our Science topic this half term is plants. During our science lessons the children have looked at wild plants and garden plants. We discussed the difference between wild and garden plants then the children hunted around the school grounds using an identification sheet.
During the first half of the summer term, Year 1 have a cricket coach and a PE specialist delivering PE to them. They are learning the skills required to play cricket and how to strike and field, applying these skills into mini games.
