Welcome to Stokesay Primary School

Visit from Councillor Joshua Dickin

Cllr Joshua Dickin visited Stokesay Primary today to lead an assembly about his role in the community, before meeting our School Council, Eco Council and Trust Parliament to talk about how young people can influence positive change in Craven Arms.

Today we were delighted to welcome Councillor Joshua Dickin, the Shropshire Councillor for Craven Arms, to Stokesay Primary School. Cllr Dickin led an assembly for the whole school, sharing the work he does in the local community and how the council helps to shape services, support families and improve our town. The children were fully engaged and asked thoughtful questions about how decisions are made and how change happens at a local level.

Following the assembly, Cllr Dickin met with our School Council, Eco Council and Trust Parliament. Pupils talked confidently about their roles, the projects they are working on, and the ways they help improve school life. Cllr Dickin discussed how pupil voice links closely to real-life democracy, and how young people can make a meaningful contribution to their community.

It was a brilliant opportunity for our pupils to see leadership in action and to understand how they can influence positive change both in school and beyond. We are very grateful to Cllr Dickin for giving up his time to visit us.
