Welcome to Stokesay Primary School

Home Learning

A bit of extra information for Home Learning to support when school is closed!

Due to the weather conditions, school will be closed today Friday 9th January to ensure the safety of pupils, families and staff.

Although the school site is closed, learning will continue. Teachers will provide lessons and activities via Tapestry, designed to help children support their recent learning.

Some learning shared will use our familiar chilli challenge system, which helps children choose work that feels right for them:

  • Green chilli – for everyone to have a go at
  • Yellow chilli – a little trickier for those who feel ready
  • Red chilli – a challenge for pupils who want to push themselves

Children are encouraged to choose the level that suits them.

Families are asked to share completed work back on Tapestry, either by uploading photos or comments, so teachers can see and celebrate children’s efforts. Activities can be completed in whatever way works best for your child, whether that’s using technology, paper and pencil, or simply talking through ideas together at home.

Teachers will be checking Tapestry at points throughout the day, responding to any work posted and enjoying seeing what children have been up to.

We are particularly mindful that changes to routine can be unsettling for some children, including those with additional needs. Families are welcome to adapt or reduce activities to suit their child, and no pupil will be disadvantaged if work cannot be completed. When we return to school, staff will take time for pastoral check-ins and catch-ups to help everyone settle back into learning confidently and provide an opportunity for children to share any concerns about the work.

Please be reassured that school remains contactable during the closure. The school office phone number and admin email account will be monitored, and we will respond as promptly as possible. Safeguarding arrangements remain in place, and any concerns about a child’s wellbeing should continue to be shared with school in the usual way.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday unless adverse weather conditions prevent this which we would of course let you know again though text and email.

Be safe and remember to balance your schoolwork with a bit of snow work!
