Letter regarding school closure following announcement from Government -4/1/2021

Monday 4th January 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Can I apologise for the late hour that this letter is being sent to you. As you will know our Prime Minister has just announced that he has moved all parts of England onto alert Level 5. This means that he anticipates a material risk of health care services being overwhelmed, necessitating extremely strict social distancing. As a result all schools have been ordered to close for almost all pupils.

Therefore, our Primary School, including our nursery, is closed with immediate effect and until there is an announcement otherwise. You will understand that I am writing this with very heavy heart – it is not something that we want at all, but something we accept is necessary for the wider good of our society.

You will find that home learning is in place for you promptly tomorrow morning, for our pupils on Tapestry. I will write to you with more on this tomorrow, because our approach will be altered a little from the last lockdown to put in place some improvements.

Over the next 24 hours we will be setting up a new a new Key Worker group similar to the system we had last year, altered a little for the new circumstances. It is anticipated that the children attending this small group will be those that attended during the last lockdown period only. If you have changed jobs and are now considered a key worker then please email the school office admin@stokesayprimary.co.uk , using the email title ‘key worker’. We may require written confirmation from your employer as a requirement of this provision. I am sure you are aware we must keep this group as small as possible and only for those in real need. We will put the organisation in place for this to start on Wednesday. Therefore, school will be closed to all tomorrow.

Thank you for your understanding and we will be in touch with you by letter tomorrow.

Kind regards

Mr P O’Malley
